Autumn is officially here bringing the richest colors of the year. Along with it, it also brought green and red apples, which for many are the all-time favorite fruits. Do they have any differences apart from the colour?
Apples are an excellent source of vitamins A, C, E as well as K. They are also a very good source of prebiotics and fiber contributing to rapid satiety, thus becoming our ally in weight control.
Green apples contain slightly less sugar than red apples, and slightly more potassium and vitamin K, while their taste is sour.
Red apples are superior in the flavonoid quercetin, which exhibits strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, while their taste is sweeter than green apples.
Whether red or green, it is a fruit that gathers on its outer surface several chemical substances used in its cultivation. It is recommended to wash them well under plenty of running water if you want to enjoy them with their skin on.
